Platform 1 is a school building and city learning centre equipped with specialised language facilities. Designed to contain a library, classrooms and a community media centre housing a recording/ film studio, public access area and crèche.

The front of the building presents its open aspect while also acknowledging the need for security and privacy. Outside the main entrance a new public space is created under the shade of two existing trees. The building is organised around a central double height space which gives the school access from the rear. Platform 1 is designed to be a legible place using simple materials and raw finishes.
